Our History

Rogers Group is proud of its long and storied legacy and its wide-ranging impact on the American infrastructure and economy.

1908

Ralph Rogers establishes Bloomington Crushed Stone, the foundation of Rogers Group Inc.

1928

Sensing growth, Ralph Rogers expands into Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.

1936

Indiana State Route 46.

1940s

Military installations strengthen Rogers’ presence in Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama.

1943

The company opens a quarry in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

1954

President Eisenhower signs the Federal-Aid Highway Act, granting $175 million for highways.

1964

The company begins offering health insurance, well ahead of others in the industry.

1976

Company founder Ralph Rogers dies at age 86.

1981

The red “R” becomes the first company-wide logo.

1983

Rogers Group Inc. consolidates 29 companies under one entity with offices in Nashville.

1996

Conway Asphalt acquisition extends RGI’s footprint to central and northwestern Arkansas.

2008

RGI celebrates 100 years with a 2,500-hour community service initiative.

2008

RGI strengthens its presence in East Tennessee with the Tennessee Asphalt acquisition.

2015

RGI acquires 85-year-old Ashmore Bros. to enter South Carolina’s asphalt market.

2018

The acquisition of LS Sand & Gravel in Amarillo, Texas, introduces Rogers Group to the Lone Star State.

2020

RGI acquires Elk Mountain to enhance Tennessee excavation, erosion control, and utilities.

2021

RGI expands in northern Alabama with Reed Contracting and Joe Keenum acquisitions.

2022

Monteagle Sand LLC becomes the 16th aggregate location in the region, serving southern Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.

2022

RGI expands in Texas with acquisitions of Granbury Excavating and Tri-County Materials.

2024

RGI enters Georgia with the acquisition of Butler Sand, expanding into the Atlanta market.

2024

Jimmy Patton becomes President and CEO of Rogers Group in November after a nationwide search.

2025

Rogers Group expands its footprint in Kentucky and Tennessee through the strategic acquisition of Albany Quarry, Albany Asphalt, Jamestown Stone, Twin K Enterprises, and Sterling Materials.
